UGA Community Art School
The UGA Community Art School features courses for adult students seeking to learn new skills, hone techniques, and expand their artistic expression. Taught by UGA faculty, the classes maximize individual instruction and experiential learning in the legendary studios of the Lamar Dodd School of Art.

Drawing Other Humans: Figure Drawing with Callia Alandete
Fall 2026, Mondays, 6 – 8:30 pm.
10 sessions. September 14 – November 16.
An introduction to life drawing. Students will build drawing skills by working from a traditional yet challenging subject, the life model. The course will offer demonstrations and ample individual instruction time, utilizing charcoal, ink and brush, and pencils on paper. Students will produce expressive form in drawing while developing spatial vision and increasing their hand/eye coordination. All materials provided. Adult students of all levels welcome.

Hand Building Ceramics with Maria Dondero
Fall 2026, Tuesdays, 6 – 8:30 pm
3 Sessions. October 6, 13, 20, plus optional exhibit and pickup on October 27.
Ready to take clay to the next level? Explore functional and sculptural forms by learning three ceramic hand-building techniques. We will pinch, coil and slab build vessels and add surface design with slips. Students will come away with 2-3 finished, glazed ceramic pieces. Open to all levels of experience. All materials provided. Adult students of all levels welcome.

Still Life for a Better Life: Painting with Haley Indorato
Fall 2026, Wednesdays, 6 – 8:30 pm
10 sessions. September 16 – November 18.
Spend time in a creative state of mind on Wednesday evenings in a beginning class in oil painting. See color in the world more deeply by painting still life. Learn foundational techniques for painting from observation, color mixing, and paint application. Start with basic volumetric solids and work towards building a more complex still life set from objects of your choice. All materials provided. Adult students of all levels welcome.
Fees & Registration
Ten-week sessions cost $450. Seven-week sessions cost $315. Three-session workshops cost $200. Adults of all ages welcome.

Fees cover classes and supplies. Refund will be provided up until two weeks before the first day of class. Proceeds from the UGA Community Art School support the studio art program at the Lamar Dodd School of Art.
Please review our policies below before completing registration.
The UGA Community Art School will issue a refund, minus a $25 processing fee, for cancellations made at least fourteen (14) days before the course start date. No refunds (full or partial) will be issued after that date. All refund requests must be sent via email to CommunityArtSchool@uga.edu. If the class is canceled by the UGA Community Art School, we will refund the full enrollment fee.
