Spring 2023 Graduation Ceremony at the Lamar Dodd School of Art

The School of Art eagerly returns to tradition after a few years of distanced, outdoor graduation celebrations amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2023 Lamar Dodd School of Art Spring Convocation includes:

• Welcome address by the Associate Dean of the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences Jean Martin-Williams,

• Keynote address by alumna and 2021 Margie E West Prize winner Pam Longobardi (‘81, BFA),

• Formal calling of names on the front steps of our main building,

• 2023 photo book graduation gift designed with images submitted by graduates — to share your memories, follow this link

We welcome students and loved ones to join us on Friday, May 12 from 11 am to 2 pm at 270 River Road! Please use this link to reserve your seats. We ask that graduates begin arriving 1 hour prior to the ceremony. Regalia will be optional.

Please note that 4 guests per students will be permitted to view the ceremony in person. Additional guests will be asked to view the ceremony from within one of our first-floor auditorium spaces, wherein the ceremony will be live streamed.

Loved ones can’t make it? Remote guests are welcome to view the ceremony virtually by registering through the following link. Guests will need to register in advance to receive a livestream link via email. A recording of the livestream will be made available to graduates in the week following our convocation.

Graduates and their guests are invited to stay after the formal convocation. There will be light refreshments and fellowship with graduates and faculty in the atrium.

Ticket Instructions

Once your tickets have been reserved, you will pick them up at our reception desk on the third floor of our main building. You will receive 4 red tickets for guests to view the ceremony in person and white tickets will be provided for any extra guests who will be viewing the ceremony livestream in our onsite auditoria.

We will have your tickets ready beginning Wednesday May 3rd. You can pick up tickets everyday from Wednesday May 3rd through Thursday May 11th from 2 to 4 PM (excluding the weekend).

Day of Event Instructions

Graduates

Please arrive at the main building of the Lamar Dodd School of Art by no later than 10:00 AM on the day of our ceremony. You will report to room S151, where you will find your assigned seat for our graduation procession.

Guests

Guests can present tickets to event staff to locate their designated seating. Please see instructions above on reserving and picking up guest tickets before May 12th.

Remote Guests

Make sure that your remote guests have signed up in advance for our ceremony livestream to receive the link via email on time to view the ceremony.

Graduation Photo Book

Have photos of events, artwork, or just around the Dodd? This year’s graduation gift will be a photo book featuring student submissions on memories at the Dodd. The graduation photo book will only be given to Spring 2023 graduating students (Master’s and Ph.D. included) and will be distributed during the reception on May 12.
