Hosting Responsibilities for Visiting Artists/Scholars

Who: 

Guest: the visiting artist, designer, critic or scholar

Host: named on the nomination form – typically faculty but can be a graduate student with a faculty sponsor who will supervise the visit.

VAS Chair (2025/2026 AY): Lindsey Reynolds

VAS Vice-Chair (2026/2027 AY): Ash Smith

Anna Graves: Graduate Program Advisor and administrator for the VAS Committee

Francis Oliver: Dodd Communications – in charge of PR, website, and poster

Host Responsibilities:

  • Work with the guest to firm up the visit and lecture dates, notifying the Chair, Vice-Chair, and Anna Graves. Each host will be given a set of dates to try and make work.
  • Connect the guest with Anna to book accommodations and fill out payment related paperwork including the contract.
  • Obtain a photo of the guest and their work as well as bio for promotional usage and submit them to Francis Oliver.
  • Help the guest get to Athens – either direct the guest towards Groome Transportation or arrange someone to pick the guest up at the airport.
  • In consultation with the guest and Anna, create an itinerary for the visit and provide it to the Chair, Vice-Chair, and Francis. The itinerary should include pick up and drop off details for each day.
  • Work with Darcy Richardson on reservations for the post-VAS dinner, inviting guests to the dinner as appropriate. The host will be reimbursed for dinner if the restaurant is not set up for direct billing with the School of Art.
