Research Detail

I draw much of my inspiration from the blend of urban sprawl and natural beauty. The coexistence of these two forces demonstrates a complex, sometimes tension-filled harmony. The ceaseless expansion of urban environments collides with the organic unpredictability of the natural world. In my work, I seek to reflect on this collision and how it relates to the human condition. My vibrant, abstract compositions evoke the spaces of our physical environments and the sensations of our inner worlds. Swirling brushstrokes create landscapes that are alive and ever-evolving, recalling the turbulence and unpredictability found in natural and built environments, and within the complexities of the human experience. Through painting, I am less concerned with representing the physical world and more interested in capturing the essence of our inner experiences, fleeting moments, and the intangible forces that shape our lives. My expressive oil paintings often feature forms within the confines of a maximalist environment. These forms twist and turn into each other, pushing the boundaries of and adapting to the spaces in which they exist, sometimes becoming fully engulfed by their environments. These landscapes are as mutable and fluid as the emotions and experiences they represent. Figurative elements alluding to the human form convey a narrative evoking personal themes of loss and growth, vulnerability, isolation, and the drive to persevere, ultimately celebrating the resilience of the human spirit.

My art reflects the constant dialogue between the world we inhabit and the worlds we carry within us. I seek to invite viewers into a space where they can reflect on their own personal narratives and experiences, drawing connections between painterly abstraction and the emotional landscapes of their own lives.
