Daniel’s practice is less about control and manipulation but rather a negotiation with materials. She pushes pigments to react on a surface rather than assuming total authority of the ultimate result. She allows ascending actions to dominate in lieu of multiple smaller actions; such as the unpredictability of an image ejecting from an analog and outdated ‘photographic method.’ The ideas of urgency and pressure, compression and eruption, to coalesce and disintegrate are all equal components within her work. She’s interested in creating a series of artworks that articulates the non-verbal experiences of her audience via abstracted imagery to induce sensations of nostalgia and awareness of the body.
