Biography
I’m a Certified Medical Illustrator, educator, casual game developer, and obsessive reality-TV artist based in Chicago.
I earned my BFA in Scientific Illustration from the University of Georgia and my MS in Biomedical Visualization from the University of Illinois Chicago before earning certification as a medical illustrator in 2016.
I now teach future medical illustrators and visual communicators full-time at UIC while maintaining a creative practice that ranges from scientific and medical visualization to interactive media, games, portraiture, and commercial illustration.
My portrait work is especially focused on capturing likeness, expression, personality, and energy – frequently through the deeply normal artistic subject matter of people starving on islands, arguing at Tribal Council, competing on reality television, and occasionally winning a million dollars. Much of that work can be found through my reality-TV art project, Reality.Paintz. Outside of pop culture, my work tries to capture the meaningful and complex relationships between clinicians, patients, and medicine.
