After spending twelve years in Baltimore, I returned to Athens to pursue a Ph.D. in Art Education. I previously earned my B.A. in Studio Art and M.Ed. in Gifted and Creative Education from UGA in 2007. Through my doctoral studies, I aim to integrate my background in art and education. I have taught in a range of educational settings, from inner-city public schools in Baltimore to graduate-level courses at Johns Hopkins University. My current research interests center on museum literacy, representation in children’s literature, and bookmaking as an arts-based practice. Outside of my academic work, I stay busy as a single parent to my 6-year-old son, Kai.
