Biography

Dr. Nara Kim is a Lecturer of Art Education in the Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia. Prior to her current role, she taught at Kennesaw State University and Anderson University. She holds an M.F.A. in Fabric Design and a Ph.D. in Art Education from the University of Georgia.

Dr. Kim’s research focuses on empowering the voices and narratives of culturally and linguistically diverse young learners through technology-integrated art education. Her interdisciplinary scholarship prioritizes STEAM approaches, choice- and play-based early childhood art education, and visual culture studies, all grounded in the principles of culturally responsive pedagogy and community engagement. Her work supports global inclusion, diversity, and social justice in art education.

Her teaching interests include cultural diversity in art education, contemporary art practices, and early and elementary art education. Dr. Kim’s recent work has been presented at the National Art Education Association Conference and published in European Early Childhood Education. She currently serves as the Coordinator of the Online Art Education MAED Program and participates in curriculum development initiatives within the department.
