Meredith Lachin lives and works in Athens, Georgia. She received her BFA from the University of Georgia and her MFA from the New York Academy of Art, where her studies concentrated on figurative painting and human anatomy. Her classical training continues to inform her practice through a strong emphasis on technical precision, compositional structure, and nuanced use of color and light.

She currently teaches art at the University of Georgia, where she instructs Introductory Drawing, Drawing II, Introductory Painting, Figure Drawing, Figure Painting, and the Senior Exit course. In addition to her studio and teaching practice, she owns and operates a home staging and interior design business, allowing her to work fluidly between fine art, design, and large-scale spatial environments.

Originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, she was deeply influenced by the city’s Spanish and French architecture, rich visual history, and layered cultural traditions. Her grandfather, a Venetian-born artist and architect, further shaped her early exposure to art and design, fostering an appreciation for craftsmanship and visual storytelling from a young age.

Her work is driven by close observation of the natural world and a lifelong fascination with shared human experiences reflected in nature—particularly through wildlife. Most recently, her paintings have focused on coastal birds, exploring themes of survival, and vulnerability. Drawing from the compositional strategies of classical European painting, she elevates her subject matter by emphasizing mood and emotional resonance through carefully controlled lighting, color relationships, and spatial tension.

Her work has been exhibited in Atlanta, New York, and other cities across the United States. She is also an accomplished muralist, having completed several large-scale public and private commissions throughout the Southeastern region of the U.S.
