Golden Hour refers to the hour before sunset when everything seems to glow, the hour when shadows are long, and the passage of time is suddenly visible. In this exhibition, Dodd Graduate Candidates, Mary Gordon, Alex McClay and Ciel Rodriguez reconsider the conventionally white-lit gallery space by creating an ephemeral environment reminiscent of that golden light. The collaborative layering of works and their attendant shadows embodies a sense of doubling, posing questions about reality and figments of the imagination. Golden Hour elevates moments typically not seen as important—highlighting the shadow—the byproduct of the artwork, as well as the work itself.
