Comfort Tub is a collaborative show featuring the work of Printmaking and Book Arts MFA candidate Megan Burchett and textile artist Maddie Zerkel. For several years, both artists have been exploring the potential that exists at the intersection of paper and fiber arts. With Comfort Tub, they focus on the domestic applications of paper and cloth to examine intimacy, familiarity, and the interior. Curated by Megan Burchett.
Megan Burchett (b.1985) incorporates printmaking, papermaking, bookbinding and textile processes into her practice. Megan was born in Durham, NC and received a BFA in printmaking from Cornell University in 2008. She has worked in several print shops on the east coast and is currently pursuing her MFA in Printmaking and Book Arts from the Lamar Dodd School of Art.
Maddie Zerkel (b. 1993) incorporates printmaking, dyeing, and weaving into her practice. She was raised and currently resides in Athens, Georgia. She received her BFA in Textile Design from the University of Georgia in 2015. Megan and Maddie are great friends.
