Organized and curated by graduate students and faculty from the Lamar Dodd School of Art, Melt is an exciting look at the diverse approaches to art making in this emerging creative community readying to launch into the professional field. Second- and third-year graduate candidates, including faculty and alumni, are working in a range of media, including metals, fiber, photography, and papermaking. Exploring concepts such as climate concern, identity politics, beauty, and storytelling.

Cupola
The Cupola Project was initiated in 2023 by UGA professor Martijn van Wagtendonk as a class assignment at the Lamar Dodd School of Art. Inspired by Renaissance architect Filippo Brunelleschi, the project integrates engineering, science, language, music, philosophy, and kinetic sculpture into a fantastical interactive structure. Cupola is meticulously constructed with mortise and tenon joints, and its form has continued to expand over the past two years. This collaborative endeavor has engaged over 45 students and faculty from diverse disciplines. Designed with portability in mind, Cupola is akin to a mobile fairground attraction, easily assembled and disassembled, making it perfect for a grand tour. Next stop: Chattanooga.
