Taping Nature

November 26 – December 7

Glass Gallery

Exhibition featuring the work of local artist, Paula Reynaldi.

Of the exhibition Reynaldi write:

My work entails making pieces with masking tape that I stack, multiply, and assemble without glue. By multiplication, repetition, and expansion, each little shape reveals a new form.

The work involves folding masking tape into little cones and loops and sticking them together. These cones become “cells” and as they come together, they grow in patterns, like organisms. They are transformed into “colonies” because of the way they proliferate and take over walls, ceilings, and floors.

Masking tape is used for packaging, for holding objects or covering surfaces before painting. It usually ends up in the trash bin. Working with masking tape gives another chance to the material, changing its secondary, supportive humble role in art and making it the protagonist of my sculptures.

Closing Reception: Friday, December 7, 6-9 pm
