Join us for a public reception at the Lamar Dodd School of Art celebrating Reimagined: Creating Community, an exhibition of interdisciplinary design work produced by students in advanced interior design and landscape architecture for the community of Fort Oglethorpe in Catoosa County, Georgia in partnership with the Carl Vinson Institute of Government and supported by the Lyndhurst Foundation.
About Reimagined: Creating Community
A generous grant from the Lyndhurst Foundation has allowed students to reimagine an abandoned regional hospital complex in Catoosa County, Georgia overlooking the historic Chickamauga Battlefield, managed by the National Park Service. Students have redesigned the complex into a multiuse concept including multifamily housing, senior housing, restaurants, retail, and a hotel/conference center. Work was based on a feasibility study conducted by Carl Vinson Institute of Government. Students and faculty traveled to North Georgia to visit the site, meet with the county’s elected officials, and held interdisciplinary design charrettes. This multi-stage project will continue with a paid interior design internship over the summer for a student to shape a request for proposals toward this redevelopment project.
