About the MFA Program in Studio Art at the Lamar Dodd School of Art
Our rigorous, interdisciplinary program is rooted in creative inquiry, material experimentation, and a commitment to professional preparedness. Our expansive facilities and personal studios serve as a site for both individual exploration and collective exchange. Each year, ten exceptional students join our close-knit and inclusive community of artists and scholars.
MFA students at the Lamar Dodd School of Art benefit from a flexible, forward-thinking curriculum that allows them to dig deep in one area or cross-pollinate and experiment. Over the course of 3 years, they will supplement their studio practice and conceptual development with courses in other disciplines. Situated within a tier-one research university, their interests will be diverse, but they will share our belief that art is a vital mode of inquiry.
Each student in our MFA program is fully funded with a Graduate Assistantship package, including tuition waivers and stipends. Our graduates exit this program with experience in studio support and teaching.
