Bookmarked: One Hundred Images investigates numerous types of visual languages, including figurative, indexical, informative, expressive, notational, symbolic, meta-symbolic, systemic, pictorial, and representational signs and images to create visual narratives and to translate them into book form. Having a theme or topic to build narratives based on their interests, students studied the principles of rhetoric to understand ways to read images. Then, the students gathered and selected 100 images with various concepts and characteristics. They explored multiple arrangements with constraints to maximize the meanings of 100 images and also experimented with corresponding formats and typographic styles to integrate type and images.
