The UGA Black Artists Alliance and the UGA Printmaking Students Association welcome Atlanta-based printmaker Jamaal Barber for an artist talk at the Lamar Dodd School of Art coinciding with their group exhibition Home & Family: A Printmaking Exhibit at the Taylor-Grady House.
The exhibition features work by acclaimed Atlanta-based printmaker Jamaal Barber, known for his intricately layered relief prints that examine Black identity, memory, and community. Barber’s work has been exhibited nationally and featured in numerous publications and collections.
Alongside Barber, fourteen student-artists affiliated with the University of Georgia and two UGA faculty members from Lamar Dodd School of Art will present original works in a wide range of printmaking media.
The exhibition is organized and hosted collaboratively by the Black Artist Alliance, Printmaking Student Association of the University of Georgia, and Taylor-Grady House at Landmark Commons.
The exhibition will be on view February 6–27, 2026, at the historic Taylor-Grady House, with an opening reception on Friday, February 6, from 5:30–8:00 p.m.
About the artist
Jamaal Barber is a creative, imaginative soul born in Virginia and raised in North Carolina. In 2013, after seeing a screen printing demo at a local art store, Jamaal started experimenting with printmaking, making it his primary focus. His woodcuts and mixed-media prints illustrate the new Folio Society special edition of The Underground Railroad written by Colson Whitehead. Jamaal recently participated in the MTV/Smithsonian Channel art competition show The Exhibit. He has also worked for Twitter, the New York Times, Penguin Random House, Black Art in America, and Emory University.
In 2004, Jamaal moved to Atlanta, GA, with his wife and two children.
