Biography
Rebecca Brantley is a curator, writer, and educator. She teaches “The History of Graphic Design” for the Lamar Dodd School of Art.
Rebecca is the Director of the Mason-Scharfenstein Museum of Art and Assistant Professor of Art at Piedmont University. Previous teaching appointments include the University of North Georgia and Oglethorpe University. Rebecca worked with ATHICA: Athens Institute for Contemporary of Art from 2007 to 2020, curating many exhibitions and serving as president from 2015 to 2016. She holds degrees in art and art history from the University of Georgia.
A frequent contributor to regional publications, including ArtsATL and Burnaway, Rebecca is the author of many features and reviews for publications including The Brooklyn Rail, Metalsmith and The Atlanta-Journal Constitution. Her essays appear in books such as The Focal Press Companion to the Constructed Image in Contemporary Photography (Focal Press, 2018) and Contemporary Art About Architecture: A Strange Utility (Ashgated, 2013).
