The themes present in Jennifer Niswonder-Morris's large-scale paintings are meant to stimulate the audience intellectually and encourage the viewer to consider the role of the scene depicted in a social, psychological, and biological context. By presenting the viewer with narratives inspired by real stories found in the news, the current body of work highlights the complexity and conflict between the objective morality of the collective and the subjective morality of the individual. Attracted to the ‘gray area’ found on the moral spectrum, her work explores the themes of consent, the reciprocity of humans and wildlife, and the rights one has over their own body.
