Caitlin Adair Daglis grew up in Albany, GA. She exhibits nationally and internationally. The third child of a working-class family, she grew up seeing value in labor and the commonplace, which informs her interest in printmaking and fiber arts to this day. Daglis’s choice of medium follows a best-tool-for-the-job mentality, which has allowed her to gain a vast knowledge of different mediums, used as needed to suit her aims. Her research interests are equally expansive and include the domestic, critical craft studies, gender studies, linguistics, and sociology.

After graduating in May 2021 with her MFA from the University of Georgia, she moved on to work fulltime as a program coordinator working on community outreach at John C Campbell Folk School, the oldest folk school in the United States. Daglis earned her BFA with a concentration in Printmaking from Georgia Southwestern State University in 2015. In 2016 she co-founded Ground Up Glassworks, a mobile glassblowing studio, with her partner Nicholas Daglis.

Patterns of all kinds, language, labor, and meaningful materials: these are the concepts that shape my investigation into structures and forces that mould us into being. I’m specifically interested in how this happens within the place we call “home.” My exploration of the concept of home refers to both an idealized domestic space and a specific place, my hometown of Albany, GA. Through incorporating personal experience with detailed research in the fields of sociology, critical theory, and craft studies, I construct and uncover meaning through making. My goal is to reveal some portion of the structures that compose our world and to engage the viewer’s curiosity in how their own world and worldview are influenced, in ways both subtle and overt.
