After receiving my MAEd in ‘99 and my Ed.S in ‘04 (from UGA) I continued to teach in Gwinnett County where I was the recipient of the Gwinnett County Teacher of the Year and a top 10 TOTY finalist in Georgia. I also received National Board Certification in 2003.
I spent 14 years at the elementary level and then moved to North Gwinnett High School where I was the fine arts department chair. I retired from GCPS in 2017 after 25 years and started my educational consulting company (www.WESTpectations.com) and now work with school districts across the nation teaching thru PBL and arts integrated learning.
I had 24 student teachers throughout my career and am passionate about mentoring teachers. I currently teach part time at the Art of Education University where I am an on-line graduate instructor. I have written over 150 articles via the AOEU magazine, School Art and Arts & Activities magazine so that I can continue to mentor art educators.
