Advanced Placement Credit

Since 2016 the Lamar Dodd School of Art has accepted a maximum of six hours of Advanced Placement (AP) credit in the combined areas of art studio and/or art history.

A maximum of six (6) hours of Advanced Placement (AP) credit hours in both Art Studio and Art History may be applied (3 Hours of Studio Art and 3 Hours of Art History)

  1. A score of 4 or 5 on the AP Drawing exam allows a student to receive credit for ARST 1050, Drawing I
    (3 Hours of Studio Art and 3 Hours of Art History)

  2. A score of 4 or 5 on the AP 2-D Design exam allows a student to petition to possibly receive credit for ARST 1060, Color & Composition

  3. A student with credit for both AP Drawing & AP 2-D Design can only receive credit for ARST 1050 Drawing I in addtion to 3 hours of general elective credit.

  4. A score of 4 or 5 on the AP Art History exam allows a student to receive credit for ARHI 2300 Art History I
