Hard Fork, a spin on the phrase “fork in the road” is a term used in programming when the current conditions of the code will not support the intended outcome. As such, the programmer must break the code and start over.
Serving as a metaphor for this exhibition by Athens-based artist and Dodd Limited-Term Lecturer, CC Calloway, Hard Fork consists of a video installation and sculpture made over the span of a decade. In her work, Calloway uses pop culture, language, and technology to frame selfhood and authorship in a state of fluidity. Utilizing devout mantras and intimate texts (culled from both personal and celebrity personas), Calloway creates moments where authenticity and meaning are distilled in the materials and processes on which she inscribes, imprints, and projects her phraseologies.
