Dodd Alum Phillip McClure opens Blue Boy gallery in Savannah

Blue Boy, a new contemporary art space in Savannah, GA, is set to open this September. Directed by Dodd alum Phillip McClure, the new space is committed to exhibiting evolving art practices in the Southeast and beyond. The gallery’s first exhibition, Poems, opens on September 19th and will present work by artists Sara Malpass & Sara Hess, a fellow Dodd alum.
With Blue Boy’s opening, Phillip is excited to join a longstanding and rich tradition of alternative gallery spaces in the Southeast. Located in the curator’s backyard, the gallery presents work in a distinctly intimate and communal space. In addition to regular exhibitions, Blue Boy screens movies, hosts lectures, and holds other community-driven events in their backyard in Savannah’s mid-town neighborhood.
