The Virginia Jackson Design Competition (originally called the International Textile Market Association Design Award) was established in 1995 to recognize the most talented students in the field of textile design and create a vehicle to bring new talent into the industry.
Two spring graduates of the School of Art’s Fabric Design program were awarded first and second place in the print category of the Virginia Jackson Design Competition by the International Textile Alliance. Jack Rose received first place and a $1000 cash prize for a design incorporating the contours of a dense flock of storks. Keeley Householder received second place and a $750 cash prize for a design inspired by textured rock cliffs, water pools, and sand ripples.
The winning designs will be on display during the Interwoven show—the largest textile, leathers, and trimmings market in the United States—from November 13-16, 2022. Additionally, the work will be published in the November issue of Interwoven magazine and will be highlighted on the International Textile Alliance’s website.
