WHEN DO I APPLY FOR FALL ADM ISSION? (THE DEADLINE IS DIFFERENT ON THE GRADUATE SCHOOL WEBSITE)

The Graduate School deadline is July 1 for Fall admission, but in order to be considered for fall matriculation at the School of Art, you must submit your materials by January 1.

WHEN DO I APPLY FOR SPRING ADMISSION?

The MFA program does not review or accept applicants for Spring or Summer. The Art History program also does not review or accept applicants for Spring or Summer.

Assistantships

There are various types of assistantships available on a competitive basis to incoming students. In order to be considered for an assistantship, you must complete the assistantship application (Assistanship Application) and submit it with your application materials. Current students are automatically considered for assistantships each year.

Honors Program

Honors courses are offered in a variety of majors and provide the opportunity to design and pursue independent interdisciplinary majors, more intensive versions of required courses, and independent study under faculty supervision leading to an Honors thesis. In addition to individualized advising throughout their education, Honors students are provided with special support for graduate and professional school applications, as well as fellowship and scholarship competitions. Students may enter the Honors Program as freshmen or after completing one semester's enrollment.

Transfer Students

Admissions

In order to be accepted to the Lamar Dodd School of Art, transfer students must apply through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions as an Intended Art major. Students must be accepted by the University of Georgia and the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, of which the Lamar Dodd School of Art is a part.

The Lamar Dodd School of Art reserves the right to determine equivalent credit for any foundation courses being transferred via review of the portfolio and other appropriate materials. 

Admissions

Students interested in attending the Lamar Dodd School of Art must first apply to the University of Georgia via the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Once a student is accepted by UGA, they will then meet with an Art Advisor during student orientation. For more information about entrance requirements for individual areas of emphasis, see the School's undergraduate areas of study. If you are currently enrolled at UGA and wish to change your major to art, contact the Art Advising Office to schedule an appointment with the Undergradate Coordinator.​
