Spectra relates to a broad array of ideas or objects, all falling on a continuum which aptly describes the works by artists teaching at the Lamar Dodd School of Art featured in this exhibition. Such artists include Benjamin Britton, an abstract painter who creates works that represent or embody their own conditions as he makes explicit reference to weather conditions like moisture, temperature, pressure, and wind speed. Marni Shindelman is a photographer who often uses geo-location to create works that focus on the cultural understanding of distance as perceived in modern life and network culture. And Jon Swindler, an artist who investigates the process of printmaking through the use of printed remnants and visual leftovers in the creation of 3-dimensional collage sculpture. This is just a small example of the exemplary artists and researchers that comprise the Dodd faculty. Join us as we celebrate their most recent investigations in art making.
