SUMMARY:The Wave Tamer’s Lullaby
DESCRIPTION:Please join the Lamar Dodd School of Art January 17, 2109 at Cine, 6-9pm, for the opening of The Wave Tamer's Lullaby and Other Artifacts by former MFA student Cameron Lyden.\nThe Wave Tamer's Lullaby is a continuation of an ongoing body of work which focuses on the creation of narrative tool sets for invented jobs. In most cases, these tools are created for jobs which revolve around working with mildly anthropomorphized aspects of nature. Here, the wave tamers are charged with the task of pacifying storm-torn seas. Armed with their tackle, they set off into the tumultuous waters to subdue, ease, and quell its restlessness. These tools, fashioned to resemble pre-existing nautical implements, have been modified and paired with context clues to encourage the viewer to imagine how it is they may function.\nCameron Lyden is an Athens, GA, based artist working predominantly in wood and metal to create fictional, narrative tools. Born in Ohio, he received his BFA in Jewelry and Metals from Kent State University in 2012 and went on to receive his MFA in Jewelry and Metals from The University of Georgia in 2015.
