DESCRIPTION:Come one, come all. Don your paper caps and join us in the parking lot behind the Athenaeum for ONE NIGHT ONLY, an old-time revival of objects, words, sounds, and movements that can’t be contained beneath a roof. The church doors have been torn asunder, the museum decorations dragged into the streets. Only the carnivalesque remains. This “syncretic pageantry of a ritualistic sort” aims to conjoin “the sacred with the profane,” boasting temporary galleries in the beds of pickup trucks, art installations on the asphalt, and poetry readings in the dark along with improvised music and dance. Graduate students from UGA’s various arts programs as well as artists from the wider Athens community will rejoice in ephemera for ONE NIGHT ONLY. Be there with bells on or bust.
