The events are free and open to the public.\n \nLecture / Performance by Jaap Blonk\nWednesday, October 30th\n11:45am at Dancz Hall\nHugh Hodgson School of Music\nUniversity of Georgia\nJaap Blonk talks about his work, placing it in the context of its roots: sound poetry, improvisation and new music.\nHe presents both historic sound poetry and his own work, in the form of:\nsnippets of live performance, projection of texts and scores, sound examples, including his work with other musicians and / or with electronics, and video fragments.\nAt several points question-and-answer sessions can be inserted.\n \nDr Voxoid's Next Move\nEvening Performance by Jaap Blonk\nWith special guest improvisers\nWednesday, October 30th\n8:30pm at ATHICA\n675 Pulaski St STE 1200, Athens, GA 30601\nDr Voxoid’s Next Move is Jaap Blonk's current voice and electronics performance.\nIt is in constant development; new possibilities being added frequently.\nHe prefers to choose a specific program on the spot and may even change it during a performance.\nIt may contain:\n- sound poetry (his own works and possibly an occasional 'classic' from this tradition)\n- pieces in invented languages, for instance in "Onderlands" (the language of the Underlands, a variation on Netherlands)\n- phonetic etudes and processes\n- live soundscapes\n- improvisations, both for solo voice and in dialogue with his live electronics\n- and more...\n
