SUMMARY:Fall Exhibitions Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:Artistic negotiation, the divine, and time take center stage this fall at the University of Georgia’s Dodd Galleries via three exhibitions curated by graduate students. The Lamar Dodd School of Art invites friends and members of the community to enjoy these installations at the Fall 2023 Exhibitions Opening Reception on Thursday October 12 from 5 to 7 p.m. on 270 River Road. This event is free and open to the public. \nThe three featured exhibitions include Insect Politics, a collaborative exploration of the divine through reflective texts, musical instruments, ceramic objects, and a site-specific installation produced by MFA students Hayden Maltese and Alejandro Ramirez and curated by Master’s candidate in art history Kaitlyn Morrison; In-between, a series of two-sided paintings on transparent panel elaborated by art education PhD student Amos Manlagit with invited artists in an investigation of how collaborators negotiate a unified aesthetic; and a body of hours, an installation by MFA student Caitlin La Dolce, who pulls together papermaking, steel fabrication, and mold casting, among other processes, to assemble repetitive textures conveying transformation amid toxicity.\n
