Society today is inextricably linked with advanced technology. Technology is the cocoon with which we surround ourselves in order to evolve as a species. The death of one system is the demise of the other. We are now at a point of no return. We have picked our vehicle towards progress, to abandon tech now in the hopes of returning to a more primitive lifestyle would spell doom for millions. This dependence has changed our relationship with technology. Where in the past a Luddite could cast off the shackles of invention and return to the simplicity of nature. Now, we have no choice but to navigate the oppressive yet complex relationship between humanity and technology. We must grapple with the costs of continued innovation at the price of our autonomy, dignity, and physical well-being. While technology has undoubtedly delivered us increased security, longevity, and convenience, it has come at great cost to our humanity. We sacrifice the natural grandeur of our past for the artificial logic of the future. We continue to integrate with the machines of tomorrow and adapt to a STEM system. We now alter ourselves to accommodate the mechanical systems we create instead of the inverse. How and at what cost this codependent progression evolves is of interest in my work. A paradoxical enmeshing of the two forces is inevitable, that intersection is what my work explores. I seek to demonstrate this drama through the use of artificially derived and constructed forms in uneasy relation with opposing flesh like and organic objects highlighting these issues through visual metaphor. Biography I've lived in San Diego, CA my entire life. I work in both Painting and Ceramics. I received my BA in Studio Arts from San Diego State University.
